In 1993, Alan C. Villaverde joined The Peabody Orlando as Vice-President/General Manager, bringing more than 23 years of hospitality management expertise to this luxury 891-room landmark convention/resort hotel on International Drive. He came to The Peabody Orlando from a similar position with the Stouffer Orlando Resort.

Villaverde began his career as sales manager with the Hilton Hotel Corporation at the Rye Town Hilton Hotel in Rye, New York, and was subsequently promoted to director of sales for Hilton's Tarrytown Hotel in Tarrytown, New York.

Villaverde is a recognized leader and visionary in the upper echelons of hospitality industry management. He has held such positions as vice president and general manager of Stouffer Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland, and was vice president of sales with the Stouffer corporate office in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was responsible for the total sales efforts of 35 properties throughout the United States. He also served as general manager for the Stouffer Concourse Hotel in Washington, D.C., the Stouffer Bedford Glen Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, and assistant general manager with the Stouffer Westchester Hotel in White Plains, New York.

He chaired the first three fundraising campaigns for the "Food For All" project of the Maryland Food Bank Committees, providing $900,000 of food products for the needy. This earned him the Governor's Citation for exemplary efforts in caring and community outreach. In Orlando, he actively serves on the Hospitality Advisory Council for Give Kids The World, a non-profit organization that provides an all-expenses-paid Central Florida vacation for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Villaverde has held numerous board positions, including the Maryland Tourism Council and the Sheppard Pratt Hospital advisory board for adolescent development and was president of both the Maryland and Baltimore Hotel & Motel Associations. He has been a board member of the Central Florida Hotel & Motel Association, and the Florida Hotel & Motel Association. Villaverde currently serves as chairman for the Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, chairman of the board for Lisa Merlin House, a transitional facility for women recovering from various addictions and abuse. He is also president of the E.T.C., Efficient Transportation for the Community of Central Florida.

Villaverde was honored as Maryland Hotelier of The Year in 1991, Peabody Hotel Group General Manager of the Year in 1995 and 1998, Central Florida Hotelier of the Year in 1997, Florida General Manager of the Year in 1998, and the American Hotel and Motel Association's Outstanding General Manager of the year in 1999.
