THE PEABODY ORLANDO WINS BIG IN ORLANDO MAGAZINE'S 2007 HOTELS OF THE YEAR AWARDS
ORLANDO, FLA. -- OCTOBER 22, 2007 -- The Peabody Orlando brought home three major awards from
the September 30, 2007 ceremony for Orlando Magazine's Hotels of the Year Awards, held at the
Mall at Millenia. A strong contingent of Peabody management was on hand to accept the awards.
“Awards continue to be won by The Peabody Orlando because of our associates' sincere and
unrelenting commitment to Peabody Service Excellence® and to providing our guests memorable,
flawless experiences during their stay with us,” commented David Adelson, director of sales
and marketing.
Alan C. Villaverde, CHA, executive vice president, Peabody Hotels and general manager of The
Peabody Orlando, was named “Most Influential Executive” in Orlando 's hotel industry. Villaverde
is a tour de force in the area's tourism and hospitality industry, bringing years of top-level
experience, insight and vision to the elevation and further development of Orlando as a
first-class tourism destination. A few years ago he was also named among Orlando 's 100 Most
Influential People by Orlando Business Journal.
Dux, the Peabody's signature restaurant was named “Best Restaurant in Orlando.” Julio Delgado,
chef de cuisine, Andrea Chang, manager, and John Askew, director of food and beverage for The
Peabody were on hand to receive this most prestigious award. Dux is a multi award-winning fine
dining restaurant, serving haute global cuisines. A favorite fine dining restaurant with the
local community, it is also the restaurant of choice of convention delegate guests attending
meetings at the Orange County Convention Center. Dux is a consistent winner of the lauded Wine
Spectator Award of Excellence and DiRoNa.
The “Best Place to Hold a Gala” award was scooped by The Peabody for its years of hosting
Orlando's most upscale gala, the Black and White Gala for Give Kids The World, a local
wish-granting organization that gives wonderful holidays to terminally ill children and their
families. Eddie Maddox, director of convention and catering services received this award.
