BARBARA BOWDEN, CRDE, PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT GM FOR THE PEABODY ORLANDO
ORLANDO, FLA. -- MARCH 14, 2007 -- Alan C. Villaverde, executive vice president, Peabody Hotels,
and general manager of The Peabody Orlando, has announced a major reorganization of The Peabody
Orlando's reporting structure, and the promotion of Barbara Bowden, corporate director of
revenue management, Peabody Hotels, to the position of assistant general manager for The Peabody
Orlando, effective immediately.
“I am delighted to name Barbara Bowden as the assistant general manager for our Mobil Four-Star,
AAA Four Diamond hotel,“ said Villaverde. “Barbara has been with The Peabody Orlando since it
opened its doors for business over twenty years ago, and has been promoted through the ranks
from front office guest service representative to front office director, reservations manager,
and in 2004 to corporate director of revenue management for all three Peabody Hotels. She
launched Peabody Hotels' own Central Reservations Office and GDS chain code, centralizing
Peabody Hotels revenue management processes.
“Under the new structure, the operating departments of Rooms, Food & Beverage and Engineering
will report to Barbara. She will continue her role as our corporate director of revenue
management for all three Peabody properties in Orlando, Memphis and Little Rock. Sales &
Marketing and Human Resources will continue to report directly to me.“
Bowden is an affiliate of the Americas Board of HSMAI and is past-chairperson of the HSMAI
revenue management special interest group. With David Adelson, the hotel's director of sales
and marketing, she was the featured cover story in the January 2007 issue of Corporate
Meetings & Incentives Magazine. She is a Certified Rooms Division Executive, (CRDE), an
accreditation issued by the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association
and is a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri.
Her years with The Peabody Orlando have been star-studded. She won the Department Head of the
Quarter, 1989; Department Head of the Year, 1995, General Manager's Special Achievement Award
for Excellence, 1998, Peabody Hotel Group Rooms Division Leadership Award, 1999, Peabody Hotel
Group President's Award 2006.
Bowden is married and has two children. She is a volunteer at Holy Family Catholic School and is
active on the School Advisory Council for Olympia High School.
